So will you hang out with me outside uh in a couple months? Sure. What do you want to do? Be near the inside. Are you serious? I mean, just comedy doesn't mean now I'm hiking.
SPEAKER_04When you look at the night sky.
SPEAKER_01Be prepared to think and feel anything. There are no forbidden Evercottage to store.
SPEAKER_02Not knowing what's out there.
SPEAKER_03Well, well, well. Welcome to the Wonder Pod, Brooke. Thank you. Thank you for having me. Thank you for being here. Uh, well, tell us uh three things about yourself. I am Korean American. I'm from Utah, and I am an ex-Mormon. Hell yeah. And I'm a full-time artist. Amazing. Amazing. And you do ceramics. Yes. And what else do you do? And and my original medium is photography. I've been kind of haven't done that in a while, but I kind of want to get back. And then I do last year I started dabbling in lino cut, block printing, and watercolor painting. That's kind of And spoon carving. Yeah, I'm gonna do spoon carving. I do like sculpting, but like that's part of ceramics.
unknownUh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So with ceramics, you make dishes with flowers on them. Yeah. What else do you do? I really like making sculptures. Like sculptures of ladies, like busts of ladies. Busts of busts. Busts of yeah. It's not usually like bust focused, but they're usually included. Bust forward. Bust forward. Uh yeah. And then I just feel like, well, should I make stuff that people want to buy?
SPEAKER_04Boom.
SPEAKER_03Well harshing my mellow for here. Yeah. Because, you know, if you have like the market thing, you know, you do a market and like no one's gonna want to buy my busty ladies.
SPEAKER_02So wait when you're making these busts, are they of real people? Or are you you're in in creating them?
SPEAKER_03Creating them.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And they're just they just are happening. I don't look at references or anything.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then like one time I sculpted with a live model and I was like, wow, it's so much easier to like see a nose and be like, I'm making this nose instead of like what does a nose look like? Just like kind of imagining, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I needed like I try to like sometimes use like if I'm doing an ear, I'll pull up a photo of an ear. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do you ever take photos of yourself as a reference? Yeah. I do that all the time.
SPEAKER_03Is it detailed work? Like the intricacies of a year an ear? Yeah. Ooh. The ears, like sometimes I slack a little bit on the ears. Like ears specifically, I kind of slack. Sometimes if I don't want to do an ear, I'll just have hair. So there's no ear visible. Because I have done an ear that's like kind of a half-assed ear, and I'm like, what the fuck? Because the rest of it's like pretty good. And then there's like this ear. So I'm like, if I do the ear, I gotta do the ear, but sometimes an ear could take me like an hour to do like one ear. And is that how much how long does a nose take you, for example? Less than an hour. I don't know how long. I I haven't sculpted in a while. I'm doing bad. You're doing great. You know what? You tell me how you're doing.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Bad. Why? I just I think I just need to do what I want to do. And I haven't been doing that. What have you been doing? What you're thinking will sell. I'm thinking about could I make some money? Yeah. So I've mostly been teaching. Okay. Which actually is fun. Yeah, yeah. Turns out I like that.
SPEAKER_02Ceramics. Teaching ceramics. And watercolor.
SPEAKER_03Mostly teaching watercolor. And spoons. Not teaching spoons, learning spoons. Okay. Yeah. But uh so making like curriculum. I mean, curriculum sounds like that's too big of a word, really, but setting up the class for ceramics has taken a lot of time. I bet. And then I just haven't been making as much. Teaching anything is the setup is actually so much work. Yeah. Yeah. But I got some porcelain. I have never used porcelain before.
SPEAKER_02So allows a finer level of detail? Or is it just different?
SPEAKER_03It's a lot harder to work with.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03Imagine a nice pair of porcelain boobs. Yeah. You think you can do that? Yeah. How do you make stuff out of porcelain? I thought it was hard. It's just like it's just clay. Oh, so what I use right now is like smooth stoneware. And so it's like the closest thing you can get to porcelain without being porcelain. Because porcelain is just a little harder to like work with and it cracks more, warps more. It's a lot more money. So if you're like not if you don't know what you're doing, don't buy the porcelain. You know, like learn with something a little cheaper. Yeah. But now I'm like, I'm gonna do some porcelain. Hell yeah. I'm making I want to make dolls. Ooh, whoa, are they creepy dolls? Some people are just like doll, creepy immediately, you know. Everyone thinks the same thing with clowns. Some people are like, is it scary? So scale. Yeah. I don't think they're creepy. What kind of dolls are they? Well, okay, so far I've only gone, I've only done like the head and like upper portion of the chest. That's all I've like sculpted. Okay. And then I've purchased goat hair and alpaca hair. Hell yeah. That sounds funny. And then you get it just like in a Ziploc bag that's just like a mess. And then I like shampoo it, conditioner it, brush it out, put it, and then you like divide it into little sections and like comb it with a tiny comb. And then you like you have to make a wig.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_03And so some people make like a wig with like like pantyhose or something, and then you like on. But I just like glue it directly onto the I make bald ceramic sculptures. Yes. And then I just glue the hair back on. It's so cool. And then I've like curled the hair with the with water and a paintbrush.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_03It's cool. Did you come up with that technique? I'm sure many people have done that, but I would never think to do that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What scale are these dolls?
SPEAKER_03The doll head is like probably that big. Like an inch. That's like, yeah, I guess I should verbally verbally answer. But like if you open your mouth wide, you could. It's about that big. You could put it in your mouth if you want to.
SPEAKER_02Is it like part fabric and part ceramic or porcelain, or how's it work?
SPEAKER_03So the doll head is porcelain.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03And it's like unglazed, and then I've colored it with colored pencil and watercolor.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03I've tried glaze and I don't love how that looks. And so I like I'll just kind of like do tiny little circles. I like really like detailed stuff that takes forever to do. It's just like what I do. And so I'll like put like a general wash over the whole thing that's like skin tone with watercolor. Because if you do just the pencil, sometimes there's like little white spots that show. Yeah. So lay down watercolor, then you do colored pencil, and then you can put like little rosy cheeks or like whatever you're doing. And then I should have brought a picture, but and then the wig. And then I've needle felted a body.
SPEAKER_00Whoa. One body. Okay.
SPEAKER_03And it was the first time I've ever needle felted. There was like a little wire armature inside. Okay. And then I needle felted most of a body. And then I tried putting the head on, and it was too heavy for the wire inside.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_03And so I'm like, oh, okay, I need to like do thicker wire. So I'm now I'm at the point of I need thicker wire. I have thicker wire. I just haven't done it yet. Okay, what inspired the dolls? Well, okay, so probably because I was making the busts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And sometimes when I'm making the hair, it's like you can't get a fine little detail, or like I've had hair break off because I make it too small. And I'm like, oh, like the hair. And then like I also sculpt like a shirt. But I'm like, oh, what if I like had hair and clothes? You know? Yeah. So I just wanted to try it out.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_03And it's fun. It's but so yeah, now I'm in the phase of like I got my mom's old sewing machine.
SPEAKER_00Nice.
SPEAKER_03But you're gonna say her old hair. Her old hair. No, I don't have that. Not yet. Not yet. I can collect some. Um yeah. So that I'm gonna like sew clothes. Yeah. And I want them to be like hanging on the wall.
SPEAKER_02The the dolls. The dolls.
SPEAKER_03Like so there's like a little loop on like the back of their neck. Okay. So it looks like they're just floating. They're just kind of like on the wall with dangling legs. And yeah, I think I'm gonna maybe sculpt like hands and feet.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah, I was wondering about that.
SPEAKER_03Damn, this is very detailed. I know. So many m uh different kinds of materials. Yep. And techniques.
SPEAKER_02That's pretty wild.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Does it make you happy? Yeah. Good. I did it's been a while since I've worked on the dolls. Like two years. Oh.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And but then I think it was maybe like I like started them like two years ago, and then last year I worked a little bit on them after the long break, and I was like, I'm so excited. Like when I did the color pencil on the wigs, I was like, oh yeah. And then now it's just like been a long break again, but yeah, they're coming. It's always tricky to figure out am I gonna make am I gonna focus on creating stuff that makes me happy or focus on creating stuff that people will buy? Yeah. Because then you're like creating for people or for yourself, right? I'm just gonna create for myself now. Are you? Yeah. Prove it. Show you that all. Awesome. Yeah. Well, that's a pretty good introduction. Yeah. Well, thanks. Yeah. Okay, let's spin the wheel of wonder. Okay. Core childhood memory. Skip. Skip.
SPEAKER_02We're running out of those.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I wasn't sure what I would answer. Big questions. Oh, all right. This is a good one.
SPEAKER_02Big questions. Thank you. Um what makes a home in terms of a place? Like what makes a place that you've decided to build your life your home as opposed to just a place that you're living?
SPEAKER_03I think for me, I think it's like feeling connected like to people.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Because when I I've lived here for three years. And at first I it did not feel like home. And I it's the only time I've ever like not lived right by my family and stuff. So I was like, this is really weird. And then now it de like the more I would visit Utah and then come back, it was like that felt like home, and this felt like you know, I was like leaving home every time I left Utah. And then it started being like, huh, kinda feels like that's home and this is home. And now it feels more like home. And I think it's just because like I have people here that I'm like, these are my people, you know? Good. Yeah. You found some community. Yeah. Good. I think it's that for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You came up with this question, didn't you?
SPEAKER_00Did I?
SPEAKER_03You did. And when you first pause posited it, I imagine that correctly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I I really liked the question, and I immediately imagined like an actual home, like a house.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03And like maybe how things are arranged. What makes a house a home? Yeah, maybe that wasn't your question.
SPEAKER_02No, but I'm interested in what you think about it.
SPEAKER_03What makes home? What makes a house a home? Um, I uh need might have to think about it. One some things I need, um, I've lived in a lot of places where I didn't have these things. I need a um a bathtub, an oven, and a washer. A dryer is also very cool, but those three things need 'em.
SPEAKER_02Just to make your life work functionally.
SPEAKER_03It just makes things easier, yeah. I've lived in places where they didn't have those things, and I've had to like get creative and live without them, and I'm just I just I'm not into them. Yeah. Um, but I'm trying to imagine because I'm about to move in move in with my cutie in two weeks, and I'm thinking about what is gonna make it feel home y. I think my plants and hanging art up will make it home feeling. Yeah. But in my current spot, I didn't hang my art up for a while. And uh yeah, like the last couple places I've lived, I've had a hard time hanging my stuff up for some reason. But then once I did, I was like, oh, this is where I live. Yeah. Instead of like, this is just where I'm if it's temporary, why hang it up? Yeah. And then you feel like it's temporary because it's not up.
SPEAKER_02Totally.
SPEAKER_03Art.
SPEAKER_02I feel like for me like obviously, like friends and all things help uh help or like impact it. But the most reliable part for me has just been time. Like it it kind of seems like no matter what happens, about like three years is about the time frame for me to be like, oh, okay, like this is my home, this is where I live. Um and like obviously your friends are great, and I appreciate having my friends, and uh, makes it easier. But I feel like it just takes it and it always every time I move, I it I I forget how long it takes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, and like the first year you're just like, why did I do this? Like Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was like, oh the first year. It's disorienting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, because when you haven't moved and you're imagining it, like you're excited, right? Because you like the all the possibility, and like you can think of all the great things that like you're like, oh, they're gonna be a deal do this, and you don't think about the things that are you're gonna lose from the current place you are, you know. And I feel like once I move, I'm always like, all that's like I miss all that stuff, and I sort of took it for granted, you know?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um I really like having friends over and they go get a glass of water or something and they don't ask me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love when they come in the house and don't knock.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Same.
SPEAKER_03Okay, one more spin. One more. Big questions again. Try to do again. And don't get minor phobias. Wonderscale. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Alright, wonder scale. So this is a scale of one to ten. How many wonders you get a ten is maximum?
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02A screened in porch.
SPEAKER_03Like, how great is the wonder?
SPEAKER_02Wonders.
SPEAKER_03How many wonders do you rate it? Like eight out of ten? Are you like, mm, I really like that? Or are you like uh screened in porch? Yeah. In Oregon? Doesn't matter. Um like you could think of as opposed to not a screened in porch. Oh. Just a porch. Right? Then I would probably give it 10. Keep those bugs away from me. That's what we were thinking. Yeah. Yeah. I do like screens. I've I don't really know if I've ever been on a screened in porch.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_03Have you?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Have you? No. I had at one of my houses I had a sunroom. Yeah, I've been in a sunroom. But that's like a room, you know, it's not just screens. I don't know. You have that at your current house? I used to. That sounds really luxe. Yeah, but at my current house, zero mosquitoes.
SPEAKER_02Nice.
SPEAKER_03Like outside? Outside. Good. Like, are there mosquitoes here? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Rarely. Okay. I feel like not not a lot.
SPEAKER_03I've been getting bitten. I don't know where he's been. You've been getting in Utah, they would just get me like crazy. Really? And then we moved here and and you know, I just wouldn't they weren't around. I was like, oh this is amazing. And then we went to San Diego last week. So many bites. Okay, this leads into our first question. That's not on the wonder scale. Okay. So you live in an outdoor activity paradise and you identify as an indoors girly. I hear you don't like bugs. I'm curious whether there was some inciting incident that left you feeling unimpressed with the outdoors. How does it feel to live in such a place as this and be surrounded by people who are frothing at the mouth to play outside as much as possible? Yeah. By the way, I was talking to my brother right before this, and I was like, we're gonna have my friend Brooke over. She we're gonna ask her why she is an indoors girly. And he said, Oh, that's an interesting take. And he said to tell you, like, oh, that that's that's an interest that's cool. That makes me cool.
SPEAKER_01That's something like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So we'll have his support. You know, bugs is a big factor. Hate bugs. Any bug. Every bug.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03I don't want a butterfly to touch me.
SPEAKER_01Like no bugs.
SPEAKER_03Okay. When did that start? From birth, probably.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_03Like, get them away. Hate bugs. And I can't just be chill about it. Like, I I had friends over the other night. We were like, let's go outside and eat dinner on my patio. The weather was screened in nice. It was not screened in. Yeah. And then there was like a bee flying around or something that could sting you. I don't know what it was. And I was like, you know. And I was just like, we just need to go in because I can't be having a good time like with that. So we had to go in. So bugs is a bit bad. I really hate being hot. Can't really control that. So you love AC? Love AC. Love AC. I love indoor plumbing. It's great. Yeah, yep, yep. Yeah. Um, I actually think a lot of it came from having like chronic illness stuff. And it's just like, I don't want to be like on a hike and then have a migraine and then I'm like two hours away from getting back home. Totally. You know, I can relate to that. So that was actually thinking was like a big factor of like I never know how I'm gonna feel. I might as well be home where I can like get what I need. Yeah, yeah. Okay, I can relate to that. But now if like I have a little bit more willingness to go outside now that like I'm a little bit better with the pain, but like I'm just like not that pumped to like go on a hike or I don't like water. So what do you mean by that? Like I people are like, let's go float the river. I'm like, I don't want to float the river. I don't want to get in water. What element, what part of it do you not like? Well, I don't know how to swim. Yeah. And then I'm just worried that what if I drown? Yeah, of course. Of course. Yeah. So that's there's that. I have a couple friends who can't swim. Yeah. So yeah. I've this isn't totally surprising to me. Yeah, so I don't really want it. And I don't like like I don't like like bumpiness. So like if you're on a boat and it's like bul choppy, I don't like I hate it. Even if I'm like, I'm fine, I'm fine, I can't. My body's just like me, you know. Got you. Same with like a bumpy road. Okay. If you're driving sick or nauseated, no, I just for some reason I'm just scared. You're sensitive. Yeah. And so if we're like driving and then it becomes a dirt road, I'm like, oh great. And then it's bumpy, and then like fuck, I'm not having fun. You know?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And that's like majority of where you're going around when you're going out.
SPEAKER_00That's true.
SPEAKER_03Like So what's it like for you to live here? I mean, and your husband loves the outdoors too. Yeah. Sometimes he'll be like, I found this cool spot. I I think it's like it's doable. You could go, you know, and then I'll be like, is it a paved road?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And a lot of times he'll be like, that's the selling point. He's like, it's a paved road. We can park right at the place. And I'm like, okay. And then sometimes he's like, well, it's a dirt road, but it's not that bad. Uh-huh. And I'm like, can you guarantee it? Can I get that writing? And then we go and then it's bumpy, and I'm like, it's bumping. Yeah. You know, and then your marriage is bumpy. Yeah. He's like, I don't remember it being this bumpy last time. And I'm like, because you're not bothered by the bumps. Yeah. And then I'm like the buzz kill because I'm like, eh, they're out spumping. So where did you grow up? Utah. Like in the state. Like city. Yeah. I was like 15 minutes away from Salt Lake. What is the longest span of time you've ever spent outside inter uninterrupted? I've gone camping before. So maybe like oh like three days or something. A weekend. Like, is it usually fond memories? Or is it like, yeah, that sucked? Well, I went camping like as a kid. So I probably at that time I was like, woo, I'm having a few. You know, marshmallows on the fire. And I wasn't as like there was less. I probably wasn't like I'm myself hot. Yeah. I probably was just like, woo, you know. Yeah. Um, and I've gone camping as an adult like maybe twice. It's not, it's it's fine. Okay. I'm like, yeah, it's fine. I can relate specifically with migraines because you never know when they're gonna hit and they are um d um they put you out of commission and they have put me out of commission. And I for a long time nothing would work.
SPEAKER_02Oh brutal.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So like or the only thing that could possibly help is like strapping ice packs to my head, which you can't really do. You gotta be in bed in the dark. Like it's you gotta have specific, uninterrupted. No food smells. Like it's very specific. Yeah. Um, I'm going backpacking for the first time next month, and I I've been curious why it's taken me so long to do this, but I think it's a lot of it probably has to do with being worried that I'm gonna feel bad and not have my needs met when I'm out there. It's not great. And then you kind of worry about that, and then you're more likely to not feel good. Yeah, because it makes you feel worse. Yeah, and then you're I'm like, oh, I don't want to overdo it. Because then that could like if you get dehydrated or if you like hike too much in a day, then you're like you wake up the next morning and you're like, oh shoot. And now I'm eight hours away from home. And I'm barfing, and I feel like I can't, you know, I'm light, yeah, it sucks. And I hate being like the buzzkill. Yeah. Like I don't want to be like I don't feel good, yeah. You know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd rather just be like, you go have fun. And if I feel bad, I can just be home.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That makes sense. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Does it feel isolate like isolating here to be like I'm not into outdoor stuff and everyone else's or not outdoors?
SPEAKER_03Outdoors friends. Um every friend I have is an outdoors person. But they're w they know that I'm not, and so they're willing to do there. Yeah, like usually I'll usually my friends are also artistic. Yeah, yeah. And so we'll just do artsy stuff together. Yeah. Or just eat.
unknownHell yeah.
SPEAKER_03I love to eat. So, you know, I don't it's not usually well, I have had I had one friend say, Do you want to go on a walk? And I was like, I can walk. Yeah, I don't like hiking, you know. Yeah. But I was like, I'll go on a walk. I did this walk with her, it was like this pretty zone and sisters. And then I told Chris, my husband, I was like, hey, there's this cool spot you would like, we should go. And he was like, okay, so I took him to the same spot and he was like, Your friends are tricking you into hikes by calling them walk.
SPEAKER_04So this is a hike.
SPEAKER_03So he has a new loophole he found. Well, this was my friend. So if he says it's just a walk, I don't know. I have some friends that are like they'll do really long, like they hike the PCT. Yeah. Yeah. And then when we first were, you know, first met, I was like, I don't hike, I don't like to do, you know, anything like that. And then they would be like, Well, there's this one hike that's like pretty easy. Sure. Yeah. So you know. So when you go outside and it's a really beautiful day and it's sunny and the birds are singing and there's like a really gentle breeze and the sky is clear, and you're just standing out there for a sec, how does it feel? I can enjoy that. Yeah. Okay. It's good. I mean, yeah, even if I like go and we're like by lake or something and it's like good weather, I can be like, this is nice. Okay. That was what I was about to do. I can't like it. That does exist. Okay. But then if there's like a bug, then I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Who who let you in here? Yeah. Yeah. How dare you be in my zone? Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, I do appreciate nature and like reluctantly. Yeah. Sometimes it's pretty. Yeah. But I just like I want convenient nature. Like, I feel like a screened in porch makes sense. Yeah. Screened in a porch.
SPEAKER_02That might be good for you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. When he came up with that, I thought that is a very good idea. So that question was just if I spun that. That's not for anyone else.
SPEAKER_02No, no, we come up with different stuff that's a good thing. Tailored to me.
SPEAKER_03Tailored to I would love a screened in. I've thought about our patio. I'm like, could we get screens? Some, you know, some sort of mesh. Yeah. Keep those bugs on. I'm very intrigued that you're an indoors person because the outside is super grounding for me and very reassuring. Yeah. Like very regulating for my whole system. So I just I'm just curious what it's like to not have that relationship with it. I feel like that's what most people say. Yeah. Like, yeah, but it's so great. You'll feel so good. You can't you can't heal your soul without nature. And like, fuck off. But I feel the best when I'm like blasting music into my skull and making art in the air conditioner. Nice. With my drink. You know? Yeah. And like that, I I don't need to be outside for that. Yeah, true. So to each their own, I guess. There you go. Most people around here would agree with you though. Yeah. Yeah. I think they would. You're uh you're an outlet. I'm the anomaly. Yeah. Yeah. Well, if I ever try to make plans with you and it's outside, just just know that I forgot and I'm sorry. Okay. And we can be like, come to Bend and meet me outside. You're driving. You're driving here. Um yeah, we can do it. We can do inside things. Okay.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I feel like as I get older, being outside feels less important.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Less important? Yeah. Why? There's a lot of indoor shit.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Scandalized by this. Wolfgang. You big outdoors person historically? Yeah. Okay. I mean, he taught me what cowboy camping is. What's cowboy camping? You sleep under the stars, not in the tent.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't recommend it for you at all.
SPEAKER_03I would never. I love it.
SPEAKER_02I hate tents.
SPEAKER_03I would consider maybe like a car camping. Yeah, yeah. Maybe. Yeah. Okay, a girl who can compromise. Do it for love. Why are you doing it like that? Yes.
SPEAKER_02That's okay. I don't I I think um I think a lot of my interest in outdoor activities and was exploration. Was like going to see new things, like going new places.
SPEAKER_03You love rocks.
SPEAKER_02I like rocks. I used to do a lot of rock climbing, and like that was like picking up rocks. Also that.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Small and big rocks.
SPEAKER_02Small and big rocks. Touching them all. And I think now as I'm doing like more and more artwork, like that's sort of taking the place of that. Yes. Where I'm like, this is actually like this is more interesting exploring a lot of times. Um or it just has a wider range, right? It's like you can go anywhere. Um although I do find typically that when I like do that too much, you know, and then I'm like, I haven't gone outside, like haven't gone, like like my favorite way to be outside now is to like just like find an interesting looking spot on the map and like go there and just wander around. Like basically go for like you go for a walk. Yeah, that's that's I enjoy it so much more when I frame it that way. Yeah. When I'm not like, oh, we're going on a hike, we have to like get this circuit and like do all this shit. I'm like, I'm just going for a wander through the woods, like I'm gonna go park here. Yeah I'm just gonna wander around, like see whatever like looks cool to me, you know, and like go that way.
SPEAKER_03So you're rarely on a trail.
SPEAKER_02Correct.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um anyway, yeah, but I when I haven't done that in a while, and then I go do it, I'm like, oh wow, this is great.
SPEAKER_03Like you love that.
SPEAKER_02I do.
SPEAKER_03You've loved that for the whole time I've known you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Going for a wander.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03In the desert, typically.
unknownOh wow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well the desert's nice because you can just it's easy to wander. Like there's not a lot of shape your way.
SPEAKER_03Right. Like head that way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03There's like a sage brush, bush, and it's not surrounded by much. Yeah. So you used to do that and now you're doing art wanders.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like the exploration is more through the artwork than through um exploring the outdoors.
SPEAKER_03So would you call yourself an indoors girly?
SPEAKER_02No, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_03What are you? Are you a switch? I yeah. Are you a power power switch?
SPEAKER_02Um power switch. Like a power bottom? Oh yeah, I got I got the reference clearing that up. Um I don't know how to think about that.
SPEAKER_03Power girly? Is it like over 50% outdoors time or less than?
SPEAKER_02Oh, way less now.
SPEAKER_03Indoors girly. Whoa. I'm outnumbered, gang.
SPEAKER_02Watch out.
SPEAKER_03New besties right here. Inside. You guys can do art inside. Wow.
SPEAKER_02That's true. Although, to be fair, I feel like my house is like only like 75% inside.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Today I didn't get to be outside very much, and my whole system feels wonky because of it. Wow. I'm uncomfortable because she's always calling to me. And most days I prioritize getting outside m throughout the day. Like I'm going for a walk and then I can I'll do a workout in my yard if I can, just to have the fresh air and the sunshine and the good feelings. And then I'll also like just pop outside, you know, like as I'm cooking lunch or like before my call or whatever, just to stand there and look up at the sky and stretch and breathe for a moment, and then I go back inside. Wow. It's really really necessary for me.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_03I only want to be outside if it like feels great. I ha to challenge myself to be outside no matter what, except for if there's like lightning or it's like super cold or something. Yeah. Like going for a walk in the rain, awesome. I would do that. Would you? Yeah. I'm in. Because there's no bugs. I I prefer like a cloudy day.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03When people are like, oh, the sun is out. Great. I'm like, ugh. It's not like grumpy. Inside gurly. Inside. Yeah, but cloudy day? I want to be outside on a cloudy day. Well, you should have led with that. Well. So will you hang out with me outside uh in a couple months? Sure. What do you want to do? Be near the inside. Are you serious? I mean, just because it's cloudy doesn't mean now I'm hiking. That's a good line. Oh, that's good. Yeah. All right. We'll find our foot. But like I love just sitting outside with a fun drink. Yeah. Or listening to some music and just chilling outside. When it's cloudy. When it's cloudy. And so are you wearing like clothes? Most of the time. Like a sweatshirt. Like you're cold when it's cold outside and you're layered. Well, I generally run hot. Yeah. So a lot of times like other people will be like, I'm wearing I need my sweater. And I'm in a t-shirt and I'm like, this is perfect. Yeah. You know? But I wouldn't I also don't love being like really cold. Yeah. So, but I d I would chill outside with like a sweater. Okay. Or a coat. Well, I just want to thank you for I do this thing called I assault people with my curiosity, and you have been thoroughly demolished. Oh. Just so you know. I'm here for it. I don't feel a demolished. So thank you. Okay. That's all I'm saying.
